The highlight of the AAI National Track and Field Championships for Rathfarnham WSAF AC was Stephen Gaffney winning the SiIver Medal in the 100m in 10.50 (+1.7m/s) It ended up as a two horse race with Israel OLATUNDE catching Stephen on the line to win by one hundredth of a second, denying Stephen a second title in a row! It was great to see a road race running, even with only 200 participants. Well done to ST. Cocas in Kilcock for organising their 5k road race on Friday 25th June. The second Dublin Athletics Graded Meeting took place in Tallaght Stadium on Wednesday 23rd June 2021. Just three Rathfarnham WSAF AC athletes competed. Day 1 of the AAI gamews in Morton Stadium saw Carla Sweeney running 2:08.18 and Louise Garffney running 2:21.86 in the 800m. In the mens 3000m Mitchel Byrne ran 8:15.79 and Dave Scanlon 8:26.74. Well done to Rathfarnham WSAF AC's Brian Furey who not alone completed the Wicklow Round but set a new club record of 18 hours and 36 minutes. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Wicklow Round, it is a 100km route covering 26 mountain peaks with a total of 6000m elevation! Not for the faint hearted!...
